Vancouver’s Second Annual Macaroon Day – Donation for Charity



Parisian pastry chef Pierre Hermé started the Annual International Macaroon Day in 1995. Over the years, Macaroon Day has gained international recognition as a way to fundraise for local charities while enjoying delicious macaroons.

Vancouver’s second annual Macaroon Day is coming up on March 20, Vancouverites will be able to partake in a celebration of macaroons that is done all over the world.

Go check with the following Vancouver cafes:

French Made Baking - Macaroons by donation. Customers who visit the shop on Wednesday will receive a macaroon by donation. Money raised goes to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Address: 81 Kingsway Street, Vancouver.

Kitchening & Co. - Boxes of macaroons available through online orders with a minimum donation of $10 for a box of 12. Unless specified, orders will include an assortment of nine current flavors, such as toasted coconut, espresso dark chocolate, and mandarin grapefruit. Soirette Macaroons & Tea - Macaroons by donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation, hoping to give away up to 1,000 macaroons for a suggested donation of $2 each. Address: 1433 West Pender Street, Vancouver.

Thierry - Special Cherry Blossom macaroon $1.95 (10% of macaroon proceeds go to St-Paul’s Hospital Foundation) The new spring-inspired flavor is a mixture of honey bush tea, honey butter cream, and French pastry chef Thierry Busset’s signature jam filling. Address: 1095 Alberni Street, Vancouver.

Bel Café - offer a new macaroon flavor. Partial proceeds from sales of a strawberry and lemon macaroon ($2 each) will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society Kids’ Picks, which provides healthy, ready-to-eat snacks to children between the ages of 18 months and six years. Address: 801 West Georgia Street, Vancouver.

Leonidas Belgian Chocolates & Café - offer customers a special promotion consisting of three macaroons and a cup of Mighty Leaf tea for $5. Macaroons ($2 each) are made by a French pastry chef off-site and come in 21 different flavors, including pistachio, Darjeeling tea, mint, and Earl Grey tea. 15 percent of sales will be donated to A Better Life Foundation, a Vancouver-based meal program run by restaurateur Mark Brand and Canuck Place co-founder Joanne Griffiths.
